Plot: During a chase, a car causes a car towing a trailer to swerve. The boat slides off the trailer and crashes into a beauty salon. After Ponch and Jon sort out the mess, they head back to Central. Getraer tells them that they've been assigned to the weigh station. When they arrive, they get lessons with the scales. When Ponch convinces Jon to buy the crashed boat, Ponch learns Getraer bought it. When a red PVC truck drives by the scales, Ponch and Jon go after it. While Jon writes the citation, Ponch catches up on the soap opera. Trying to convince Jon that his load is secure, the driver loosens it and the pipes roll off. After getting the load secure, Ponch and Jon eat lunch at the Magic Mountain amusement park. Ponch calls Getraer and yells at him for buying "his" boat. Jon talks Joe into splitting the boat 1/3 each. Leaving the amusement park, Ponch and Jon chase a car and a van that are drag racing. While Ponch chases the car, the steering wheel comes off and the car goes off the road. Off duty, Ponch, Jon, and Joe work on the boat. Back at the scales, Ponch and Jon check out an overweight truck. When Ponch and Jon find a clobbered guy behind the truck, they go and chase after the hi-jacked truck. 78 Adam spots the truck as Ponch and Jon are on their way. On a bridge, the truck is stopped and Ponch and Jon arrest them. While they're doing that, someone tells them there's a car over the edge with people inside. Ponch climbs down and gets the baby out. When the sarge from the scales arrives, he calls for the rescue unit. When the sarge grabs the rope, Baker climbs down. Eventually, everyone is saved. (The car doesn't slide down as you might expect.) The sarge offers them a permanent position at the scales and they turn him down. That weekend, out at the lake, they put the boat in the water. When Ponch jumps in, it starts to sink and after attempting to plug the hole, he starts handing stuff out as fast as he can.

Mistakes:
- When the boat slides off the trailer, the front is nearly at ground level. How did it manage to get up and through the window of the salon when the window is two feet off the ground?
- Getraer is at a different desk than he normally is in his office.
- When Ponch and Jon are rescuing the people from the car, they don't seem to mind putting more weight on the car. Never mind the fact they hadn't bothered to tie the car to help prevent it from sliding down the hill to certain death.
